We have only been a source on the internet for the past 6 years, but in that time, we have managed to reach out to members of Clan Galbraith all over the world. Our website receives numerous hits on a daily basis as cousins from many countries reach out to find links to their heritage.

I can already realize your concerns. "The website is for Clan Galbraith, but my name is: Calbreath, Colbath, Colbreath, Galberth, Galbreath, Galbreth, Gilbraith, Gilbreath, Gilbreth, Gilreath, Kilbreath, Kilbreth, or Kulbeth."

As we have all come to realize, all these surnames come together to form the grass roots of Clan Galbraith. If nothing else we all have experienced the distinct "pleasure" of hearing the pronounciation of our name horribly crucified by everyone from telemarketers to hostesses at Bennigans trying to call us to our tables.

Why should you join the Clan Galbraith Association? I can give you several reasons. First off is our DNA project in association with the Family Tree DNA project. The Clan Galbraith Association has encouraged our membership to participate in this remarkable project to establish genealogical trees based on common strains of DNA. We have an amazing database in place. As a new member we would highly encourage you to participate in this phenomenal project and realize your place in our family history. Remarkable information regarding Galbraith genealogy have already come out of this research.

Second, is our outrageous library. The Clan Galbraith Association has been reaching out to its membership for over 25 years now. In that time, our members have submitted their family history records and information, books, bibles, and stories to the Clan Librarian. Over the past few years our Clan Librarian, Gayle Galbraith has scanned countless records and has put together a remarkable DVD that contains the entire works of our Clan Library. This resourse alone would make membership worthwhile.

Third, is our biennual meetings. In 2002 the Clan Galbraith Association met for its biennual meeting in Fintry Scotland at the ancestrial home of the Clan Galbraith at Culcreuch Castle. It was amazing. In 2004 we gathered in Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada. People are still talking about these two events. In 2006 we met in Salt Lake City where we were able to coincide our meeting with a highland games held locally. The Clan Galbraith was the featured Clan at this event, we led the parade of Clans onto the parade grounds and our piper led the entire parade!!! April 2008 will see our membership gathering in Charolette North Carolina for a very exciting time and long range plans call for a return to Scotland in 2010.

Fourth, is our dedication to searching for a new Clan Chief. The Clan Galbraith has been without a sitting Chief for 400 years. We are currently in the process of conduction extensive researse to identify specific lines from known Clan Chiefs in order to identify a candidate to endourse in order to once again establish Clan Galbraith as a recognized force able to stand along side the infamous clans of Scotland.

Fifth is our amazing, award winning quarterly newsletter, the Red Tower. This publication has been in continuous publication since 1980. We celebrated our 25th anniversary edition in 2005. The information that is available in this publication is remarkable. The added benefit is also that all past editions of the publication are available on DVD.

And sixth is the amazing work that our Clan Genealogist has conducted over the past several years. Amazing attention to detail and research has been conducted over the past decade at the hands of our executive committee member Bill Gilbreath that has truly established Clan Galbraith as a participant in the arena of the larger Clans.

You reached out to the resources of the Internet in search of data involving the surname Galbraith. You are doing research on your family name, doing various internet searches on Galbraith and you were brought here. We have an amazing recourse, not only in our extensive library, but also in our membership, some of which can trace their involvement with Clan Galbraith Association back to the initial days when the organization was being formed.
