How About a Trip to Siberia

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

How would you like to have a free, all-expense paid trip to Siberia? Pardon me if that sounds a little sinister to some of us old Cold Warriors! Well, it doesn’t matter anyway, because nowadays you have to pay for such trips.

The Hermitage - Jordan Staircase

Joyce Higginbotham and her mother took a Trans-Siberian tour last August, traveling thru Siberia and points West and South, including St Petersburg, and Moscow. Sounds exciting and a little daunting to me. Joyce’s mother must be a hardy soul. This is another adventure to talk about at the Gathering this June in Salt Lake City. Bring your photos, Joyce!

A Trip to Vietnam

Recently David Colwell, our association Treasurer, made a two-week trip to Vietnam. David visited parts of the country all the way from the Mekong Delta in the south, to Hanoi, in the north. To quote David:

“While in Hanoi we also visited a small village in the country a couple of hours

from Hanoi and way off the beaten track. There was no road into the village. The bus had to stop on a dirt road nearby and we walked into the village. That was an insight into life in rural Vietnam.—The people were friendly and welcomed us – a genuine welcome, not a phony one.”
