There is wide spread belief, certainly from Egle, Orbison and others that John of Ireland had a son John, who came to the new world about the same time as James and Robert. That this brother remained in Philadelphia and that his descendants (or some of them) made there way to York county by the 1750s.
Jean Harriger does not accept that such a John existed, although it was likely that John of Ireland had a JOhn. Her disbelief is because of the lack of documents to his existance in Philadelphia
In spite of this, I have included son John here as 1) he could very well exist and 2) it is convenient to tie the York line to this base.
Since we don't know of John the son, we do not know of his first descendants. For my purposes I provide John with two sons, one a John III (1708-1769) and the other unknown, but the father to three known sons (Robert, John, and James) and several daughters
I need to stress that a MAJOR PROBLEM is the utter lack of any public record for a Galbraith in Phidelphia prior to say 1750; except for several marriages in that city-of inidividuals who could have resided elsewhere.
But no tax or land or estate records have been found for that period (when we wuld expect the original John of Philadelphia or his children to exist) with Galbraith surname.
