William came to TN in about 1818 and settled in Shelbyville, for life, in 1821. The earliest record I have of him there is
TENN. GENEALOGICAL RECORDS FROM STATE AND COUNTY ARCHIVES--Edythe Rucker Whitley. Pub. Genealogical Pub. Co. 1981 Copyright 1980. Lib. of Congress card #79-67871. Page 185 James R. TERRY -- On Petition of Bedford Co., 1822 Box 34 of Legislative papers filed in the Tennessee State Archives. Petition of William Galbreath, 1822. He purchased in Shelbyville a lot together with a wood (?) carding machine for which he paid the sum of $2500.00. The said machine is on the north side of Duck River in the Town of Shelbyville, etc., etc. He seeks a permit to build a dam across Duck River. Dated 22 Sep 1825 Signed by (then list of names including James R. TERRY.)
Although his father owned 1000+ acres (probably about 1800 at one time) in and around Shelbyville I can find no record of a transfer to William III.
I have taken the vitals for William and Mary's chidren from material provided by John Hancock-whom I belive descends from the Dixons (i.e. thru William G who died in Orange Co NC in 1800).
William III was JP from 1831 until he died in 1879, and held various offices: Chairman of the county Court, Mayor, Post Master, county surveyor etc.

I have belabored the discussion on John Galbreath of Philadelphia as there is another marriage at the same church: 4 July 1742--Galbreath, John, and Jane McCollock. Galbraith genealogies ascribe this marriage to John Galbraith, son of Robert of Paxtang, who married a Jennet and died in Carlisle in 1757. I have never seen another McCollough reference to this Jennet. Given the number of McCollough references (and I have omitted most of them) associated with Jane and John of Philadelphia/Springfield it is clear to me that they were the couple of the 1742 marriage. (see RT article of December 2002)
Also, based on the Will of Rebecca Galbraith Stuart Dec 28, 1748 of Lancaster County
Executors were: Brother John Galbreath [recall that she and John were children of the first James who came in 1718] and my son JAMES KARR
Children: Charles, Robert, and William Stuart, Frances Stuart, Margret
witnesses Janet (x) Galbreth (would have been her sister-in-law) and Elizabeth Kerr.
1) I can only guess that James Karr must have been son-in-law (perhaps spouse to Margret).Or, there was another daughter (to Rebecca) Elizabeth Also James Karr was the accountant for the estate of Jannet, widow of John (he died in 1753). I have a feeling that this Janet was thus a Karr/Kerr.
