Admin reply: Hello Dodd, Thank you so much for signing our guest book. I am so sorry that you just missed our Nashville Gathering. We had a wonderful time. We would have loved to meet you. I have passed through Glen Orchy several times. Be prepared to happen up on stunning waterfalls and a beautiful, peaceful glen. I assume you will go to Culcreuch Castle while you are there. I also recommend checking out the Dumbarton fort/castle as well. We have a rich history there. Stirling Castle is a must-see as well. Thank you for sending your family history. I know we have information on your line as I recall discussing Hujia Galbreath with a member who found us at Grandfather Mt Highland Games a couple of years back. He ended up joining the association and I believe we were able to help him fill in some missing pieces. I hope you will join the association as well. We would be delighted to have you. I hope you have a marvelous time in Scotland. You may have trouble locating more than a scarf or pin in our tartan and crest. It is surprisingly rare over there. Safe travels and I hope you will join us, Carol Galbreath Kiefer President Clan Galbraith Association

Comments: I’m the son on Harrel David Gilbreath and grandson of Barry Gordon Gilbreath. I’ve traced back to Spanish American war to my great x3 grandfather John C. Gilbreath who fought in the war. My great grandmother was Mattie O. Tate Gilbreath, I have her family bible. I’m always looking for ancestors of my family and the family tree. I have much more than I can list including photos of relatives dating back to 1800’s civil war and Spanish American war veterans and relatives. My brother Brian B. Gilbreath 1965-1993 was in operation desert storm, my father David Gilbreath in Korea and my grandfather in Japan in ww2. My grandfather was from Resaca, ga , I have relatives in Texas also.
Admin reply: Hello Michael! Thank you so much for signing our guest book. It sounds like we owe your family a debt of gratitude for service to our nation. What an illustrious line of patriots from which you descend! I hope you will consider joining Clan Galbraith Association. We have many Gilbreaths as members with an expert on the line as one of our DNA/Genealogy team members being a Gilbreath, himself. Perhaps he is familiar with your line already. If you join our association you will have access to our library of documents with family histories and pedigrees to hopefully help you complete your tree. Whether or not you decide to join us, know that there is a friendly and welcoming bunch of folks dedicated to learning all we can about the Galbraith line and preserving our history. Best regards, Carol Galbreath Kiefer President Clan Galbraith Association

With my uncle not having any sons our chapter ends here.

Admin reply: Hello Laurie, Thank you so much for signing our guestbook. I just searched our library briefly and got a bunch of hits for Duncan Galbraith. Of course, some of them are very old. It would be hard to say much about you line without knowing a bit more information. If you would like to join our association or even our DNA project, the first step is to fill out what you know of your history. Then our team may be able to place you in already identified lines, and match your history to others and hopefully help you learn more about your Galbraith ancestors. I hope you will join us! Comments: Just visiting the site and decided to sign in. My branch of the Gailbreath's settled in Jackson County, TN in the early 1800's. I believe the original Gailbreath settled in Westmoreland County, PA from Scotland between 1780-1790.
Admin reply: Hello David, Thank you so much for signing our guestbook! I hope you also browsed around the website while you were here. There is much more to see under the members only section. We have thousands of documents that may help you locate and document your own ancestral line. We also have a very robust DNA project replete with a team of extremely talented genealogists to help guide you should you decide to take a DNA test and share your results. The spelling of your name is not as common and we would be very interested in your line and how the spelling came about. I have run into maybe two other Gailbreaths, one from near Nashville. I hope you will join our association and our family.

Comments: Ms. Carol Galbreath Kiefer: Sorry to have discovered your CGA even existed until now; great news to say the least. I plan to join the Association very soon. The Galbreath's in my family begin with my Great-Grandmother, Lydia Galbreath(Allman)Jefferson Of St. Clair Co., AL. The Galbreath connections continue back to Newberry Co., SC; Lancaster Co. and Cumberland Co., PA; Northern Ireland and Stirlingshire, Scotland. There is even a connection to Jerome Bonaparte along the way!Sorry, if I got carried away, again thank you, Gerald Jefferson ( formally of Augusta, Douglasville and Winder, GA )
Admin reply: Hello Gerald, Thank you so much for contacting Clan Galbraith Association. You and I no doubt share an ancestor for I am of the line of which you described. I hope you will join us as I would love for you to enjoy the benefits of learning about Galbraith lineage and lore. We are a fascinating group. When you join it will be a two-part process - decide which term of enrollment you would like and how you want to receive your copy of our quarterly newsletter, The Red Tower, and then fill out the form with what you know of your family history. If you have done any DNA tests, we would love for you to join in our DNA research project. Lastly, we may be able to clear up any misconceptions and wrong forks you may have in your history. We all have them as it is so easy to mistake one James for another from 1700 or so. Consider this a personal invitation to join us from your cousin, born and raised in St Clair County, AL. Comments: Hello This is my first time visiting Clan Gilbreath website. Do you have a line of Gilbreaths who migrated to Tennessee in the US around 1790 or so? Thank you
Admin reply: Hello Mark, We are delighted that you have found our website and that you have signed our guestbook. With just a superficial dive into our library I see many references to Gilbreaths in Tennessee in the early 1800s. If you decide to join us, you will have access to our members-only sections which includes our vast library of Galbraith/Gilbreath (all spellings) histories, pedigrees, myths and legends. Also, if you decide to join us, you will have access to our brilliant genealogist who also happens to be a Gilbreath. So, I would imagine he may have special insight to your inquiry. I hope you will consider becoming a member. It is a two-step process. You join at the level you choosevia the "join us" tab on the website and then share with us what you know of your family history. You do not need to go back to Adam, just what you know from family lore and possibly your own research. Again, we would love to welcome you into the association. Lastly, I see you are in Georgia. I live in Marietta, just down the road from you. Clan Galbraith Association was just represented at the Stone Mountain Highland Games. Perhaps next year you might be able to join us. We have such a great time and it would be delightful to meet you. Best regards, Carol Galbreath Kiefer

Comments: My great grand-mother is Jenni Galbraith Coleman (sisters Anna and Rachael) from Binghamton, NY. I'm planning a trip to Scotland in 2018 and want to learn more about my ancestral clan. Also, thank you so much for starting and maintaining this site. I wish my grandmother, who was quite interested in genealogy, were also still alive to participate.
Admin reply: Hello Lisa, Thank you for contacting us. We are delighted to hear from you. I hope you will enjoy your upcoming trip to Scotland. Having just returned from a month in Scotland I feel I must warn you that you will learn more about the Galbraiths from this Association and our extensive library of documents than you will looking for traces of Galbraiths there in Scotland without knowing exactly where to look. Aside from Culcreuch Castle in Fintry, you will be hard-pressed to find any physical evidence of the Galbraiths in Castles in the lowlands even though we have connections to Dumbarton and Stirling and many other castles that are now in ruins. You probably won't find Galbraith tartan accessories aside from a wool scarf, but there will be the occasional kilt pin or badge, but I noticed they have a boar instead of a bear on them. I certainly don't mean to sound discouraging and I hope you will join the association so you will have access to our library so that you can plot your course to follow our transition from Stirlingshire to all parts of the globe. Best regards to you and happy travels! Carol Galbreath Kiefer President Clan Galbraith Association.
