Comments: Hi, my great-grandmother's name was Cecelia Galbraith born in East Stonehouse, Devon. I know my 4th great-grandfather Hugh (who seems to have alternatively spelled his surname as Gilbreath mostly but sometimes Gilbraith and Galbraith) was born in 1766 and married in Devon but don't know where he was born. I also have some records that indicated they possibly attended the Presbyterian church in Plymouth.
I'm very interested in finding out more especially as this is one my few lines which has the potential to NOT be English(!).
Comments: I am the eldest son of Robert Galbraith.
Grandson of Joseph Galbraith who's family have been traced back to Dunfanaghy, Donegal Ireland.
I believe this to be the settling point of Robert Galbraith, Laird of Culcreuch in 1622 after his exile to Ireland.
There are many Galbraith decendants in the greater Belfast area - all of whom have direct links to the settlers in Dunfanaghy.
Admin reply: Ryan, It was good to get your message. We would be very interested to see your lineage, especially if it goes back to Robert Galbraith our 17th chief. Currently we have no chief because we cannot find a documented line back to Robert. I look forward to hearing from you
