Greetings,
I have recently discovered that I am a descendent of Josiah Galbraith (2xgreat-grandfather) who was born in Pennsylvania but was married and lived and died in Ohio. I have seen a Josiah and a Hulon Galbraith that may be related in Columbia County in 1821. He fought in both the War with Mexico and the Civil War (64th Ohio). I am very interested in joining the association and in discovering his origins. I have been to Scotland and had I known my own history then I would have gone to family related places.
very respectfully,

Paul H. Scheidler

I am a descendant of Alexander Galbraith and Nancy from Bucks Co, PA. He had 3 sons, Robert, William and Alexander "Big Lyle" Galbraith, who came to Roane and Anderson County, TN and were among the first settlers of the area.

I am very interested in learning more about Clan Galbraith and our ancestors.

Admin reply: Hello Michelle,
Thank you so much for signing our guest book. We have many members who descend from Alexander and Agnes Miller Galbraith from Bucks County, PA and "Big Lyle" is one of their descendants. We have many members from this line and there is quite a lot of information about the family. I, too, descend from this line on my mother's side. If you would like to join the association, and I hope you will, you would have access to all of our historical documents in the library. You will also find that this line is our DNA Group 1 category in our Galbraith DNA project which has identified 13 individual groups of DNA so far. We would love to hear your story and I hope you will join us.
Best regards,

Hello:

My family traces to Angus Galbraith 1744 in Glen Orchy, Argyllshire, Scotland. He immigrated to Robeson County, NC (died 1825).

My family is headed to Culcreuch Castle in July. I'd love to know more to see while we are visiting Edinburgh. I hate I just missed your last reunion.

For those interested in Civil War relations, my three great uncles were in the 61st GA infantry. They are grandsons of Angus and their father was Hujhia "Hugh" Galbreath.

Galbreth, Angus (named after grandpa); Galbreth, Henry; Galbreth, H. A. Killed at Monocacy, Md., July 9, 1864.

My Dad's family resides in a Sharps Spur just south of Vidalia, GA. My great grandfather was Daniel Washington Galbreath (brother to the above great uncles). Daniel's son was grandad George Washington Galbreath. My Dad was Herbert Dene Galbreath. All are buried in Galbreath cemetery on one of 6 roads named for Galbreaths.

Admin reply: Hello Dodd,
Thank you so much for signing our guest book. I am so sorry that you just missed our Nashville Gathering. We had a wonderful time. We would have loved to meet you. I have passed through Glen Orchy several times. Be prepared to happen up on stunning waterfalls and a beautiful, peaceful glen. I assume you will go to Culcreuch Castle while you are there. I also recommend checking out the Dumbarton fort/castle as well. We have a rich history there. Stirling Castle is a must-see as well. Thank you for sending your family history. I know we have information on your line as I recall discussing Hujia Galbreath with a member who found us at Grandfather Mt Highland Games a couple of years back. He ended up joining the association and I believe we were able to help him fill in some missing pieces. I hope you will join the association as well. We would be delighted to have you. I hope you have a marvelous time in Scotland. You may have trouble locating more than a scarf or pin in our tartan and crest. It is surprisingly rare over there. Safe travels and I hope you will join us,

I’m the son on Harrel David Gilbreath and grandson of
Barry Gordon Gilbreath. I’ve traced back to Spanish American war to my great x3 grandfather John C. Gilbreath who fought in the war. My great grandmother was Mattie O. Tate Gilbreath, I have her family bible. I’m always looking for ancestors of my family and the family tree. I have much more than I can list including photos of relatives dating back to 1800’s civil war and Spanish American war veterans and relatives. My brother Brian B. Gilbreath 1965-1993 was in operation desert storm, my father David Gilbreath in Korea and my grandfather in Japan in ww2. My grandfather was from Resaca, ga , I have relatives in Texas also.

Admin reply: Hello Michael!
Thank you so much for signing our guest book. It sounds like we owe your family a debt of gratitude for service to our nation. What an illustrious line of patriots from which you descend! I hope you will consider joining Clan Galbraith Association. We have many Gilbreaths as members with an expert on the line as one of our DNA/Genealogy team members being a Gilbreath, himself. Perhaps he is familiar with your line already. If you join our association you will have access to our library of documents with family histories and pedigrees to hopefully help you complete your tree. Whether or not you decide to join us, know that there is a friendly and welcoming bunch of folks dedicated to learning all we can about the Galbraith line and preserving our history. Best regards,
Carol Galbreath Kiefer
President Clan Galbraith Association

PS. My 3rd Great-Grandfather, Clarkson Galbreath, fought with the 58th Alabama Rgt, Company G and was killed at Chickamauga. That's pretty close to where you live, right? CGK

My grandfather Duncan Galbraith born 1900 his Father was John Galbraith both are buried along with his wife and mother in Rothesay Cemetary

I would like to know how far back my lineage goes.
My mother was Agnes Thompson Galbraith and my uncle
John Haig Galbraith both are deceased

My great grandfather John Galbraith died october 25, 1931
I am planning with my kids to go and visit the grave site and also plan to put my mom and uncle in the same grave and add to the headstone.

My grandfather was born in the Isle of Islay

any information would be helpful

With my uncle not having any sons our chapter ends here.

thanks

Admin reply: Hello Laurie,
Thank you so much for signing our guestbook. I just searched our library briefly and got a bunch of hits for Duncan Galbraith. Of course, some of them are very old.
It would be hard to say much about you line without knowing a bit more information. If you would like to join our association or even our DNA project, the first step is to fill out what you know of your history. Then our team may be able to place you in already identified lines, and match your history to others and hopefully help you learn more about your Galbraith ancestors. I hope you will join us!

Just visiting the site and decided to sign in. My branch of the Gailbreath's settled in Jackson County, TN in the early 1800's. I believe the original Gailbreath settled in Westmoreland County, PA from Scotland between 1780-1790.

Admin reply: Hello David,
Thank you so much for signing our guestbook! I hope you also browsed around the website while you were here. There is much more to see under the members only section. We have thousands of documents that may help you locate and document your own ancestral line. We also have a very robust DNA project replete with a team of extremely talented genealogists to help guide you should you decide to take a DNA test and share your results. The spelling of your name is not as common and we would be very interested in your line and how the spelling came about. I have run into maybe two other Gailbreaths, one from near Nashville. I hope you will join our association and our family.

Best regards,
Carol Galbreath Kiefer
